Judging if a website is reliable

1. If the website doesn't answer you questions, it is not useful to you. The more answers, the better the site.

2. Read through the information and then decide whether it has really told you what it said it would.

3. What choices does the website give you? Make sure there are choices for you to do. Also, they not suppose to have bias.

4. Checkpoint has help me know where to find the author name, and base on that author name i can find is that author reliable

5. how can you tell? You can tell btwn fact or an opinion by checking if it's repeated on another (reliable) website.

6. Sometimes people can be biased on the Internet. The rule is to try to look at other people's point of view to see why they created the sit.

7. Rule: do not trust any website that provide you only 1 option Because they want you to trust only their website, ussually the websit's fake.

8. a good website will tell you who it's for and what it's trying to tell you .

Internet Searching

5 ways to improve a search:

1) Be specific
2) Don't put common worlds like 'and' or 'the' in your search because the search engine will ignore them.
3) Use quotes around words to search for the words together.
4) Put a plus symbol to make sure that the word is searched.
5) Put a minus symbol to make sure the word is NOT searched.

_It is important to search the internet properly because if you search it randomly, you will get very many results. Some of them might be spoof. If you remember the 5 ways to improve your search, you results will be less and it will be easier for you to find the correct information. For example, if you want to find the population of the polar bears in 2012 and you type in google seach like picture 1, you will have a lot of results. Picture 1 is not specific so there will be population of a lot of bears. If you type in google search like picture 2, your results will decrease and it is also more specific. You can see the difference between the things that I've underlined in picture 1 and 2.
